||Adrianne|~|Summers||
The stall door of the dark gray mare was opened and Adrianne walked inside. The mare lifted her head and shook off before she was caught and brought outside of the stall. Adrianne smiled and patted the mares neck before tying her to the stall and grabbing her pink curry comb. She started near the mare's head and worked her way down to the horse's rump in circular motions. The mare heaved a sigh and dropped her head. Adrianne smiled and picked up the stiff brush and brushed the mare down. Then she picked out the mare's hooves. The mare picked up her feet without being asked and Adrianne flew through the task. Soon she grabbed the magenta saddle pad and the black wintec english saddle. She liked to use Wintec for training, and when it was time to show, she used her black Collegiate. Adrianne tightened the girth and put on the bridle. She walked outside, into the sun, with the mare following close behind. Adrianne was wearing beige riding pants, her black tall boots and a pink polo. Her hair was down around her shoulders and her bangs fell softly around her perfect face. She lowered the stirrups and tightened the girth again before mounting.
The gray mare moved to the side once Adrianne had mounted so the girl halted the mare and made her stand completely still for about a minute before she nudged her on at a walk. The mare moved down the gravel drive towards the outdoor arena. Once through the gate, the girl backed up the mare so that she could close the gate. Once the gate was closed, Adrianne nudged the mare into an extended walk. The mare lowered her head and chewed on the bit. Adrianne pushed the mare forewards with her belly, and kept the pressure in her reins. Soon the mare dropped her head and walked forewards. Adrianne patted the mare's neck and then nudged her into a trot to warm up. She did several circles to the left in different sizes to practice bending, then switched directions, all using her belly. The mare picked up a canter and the pair moved swiftly around the arena. Soon they were cantering over ground poles and a few small jumps. Adrianne slowed the mare down to a walk and looked around. The barn was completely deserted. Where was everyone?

Annie Summers * Gawd, did Annie hate herself for thinking this was a glamorous sport! She came to this stables a few weeks ago, thinking everything would be nice and shiny, the people all beautiful with equally attractive horses, and everything smelling of roses. You said "horseback riding," and the first thing that came to Annie's mind was a picture of some champion Dressage rider. Reality had hit her hard; this place was simply not what she had expected.
She still hadn't gotten a lesson yet, not sure if she was interested any longer, only coming now and then for her family's sake -- they loved the idea of her getting involved in the equine world for some odd reason.
Whatever. She was here now, wandering the stalls, occasionally flinching away when a horse moved too quickly. The beasts scared the living daylights out of her, all huge and not as graceful as on T.V. when locked up in a stall. Not to mention, Annie felt raw and exposed, like her fake self had been scrubbed away because no one she knew was near; she had no security blanket.
Sure, Annie could use some time by herself, just to be herself sometimes, but she certainly didn't want life to always be like that. She loved her ring of friends and her confidence that came with it. She needed it. But when she was here, she did not have it. Which gave her all the more reason to want to leave.
But no, she had to act, for the sake of her parents not being insanely mad at her, since she'd acted so eager previously. Wasn't acting what she did best, anyways? With that in mind, Annie put on a bright, innocent smile, skidded away from a horse that went to sniff her, and headed outside. She thought she'd seen someone go out there.
Once outside, she spotted the pair she'd noticed before. Now, they might be the sort of people she expected to see -- no weird, western saddles, no cowboy hates, a pretty horse, a pretty girl, and those odd tan pants that Annie did not know the name for. Oh, and the boots. Annie sort of wanted a pair of those boots now, even if she didn't really want them for riding. They were pretty stylish.
Not sure if she should call out a greeting, Annie just stood there, combing her fingers through her light blonde hair, waiting to be noticed. She would shout out "hi!" or something, but she didn't want to make the equine turn around and charge at her. Especially when she was wearing her favorite pair of purple skinny jeans.
At the thought, Annie let her hands drop and smooth out her white t-shirt, which had a loopy design of a black flower on it, off-centered. She hadn't really dressed up for the stables on purpose, only putting on a few of her favorite pieces of clothing because that morning, she had had some extra time on her hands, which was also why all of her hair had been straightened and teased even more than usual. She looked like she did when she was around her friends, despite the fact that they were not here. At least she had that much normal left in this place.

The girl gently nudged the dark grey mare into a trot. She rose and fell with the horse's stride and played with the inside rein to keep the mare's attention on her rider. Adrianne held the outside rein tight in her right and and opened the inside rein, continuing to play with it while she nudged the mare with her inside leg. The mare moved her shoulder over and kept up the trot. The dark grey occasionally snatched for the reins but she was never given any and she soon stopped fighting the girl and collected. she floated swiftly over the sand arena making the dirt give up little dust. Adrianne sat the trot and slowly pushed everything she had inside her down into her seat and the mare stopped. The girl smiled and patted the mare. "Good girl!" She said, patting the mare enthusiastically. That's when Adrianne noticed a figure by the fence.
Turning the mare, Adrianne approached to get a better look at the figure. It was a girl, a girl she recognized from somewhere before, probably around the barn. The girl's appearance made Adrianne suddenly jealous, she was perfect. Blonde hair and a cute smile. Why couldn't Adrianne be that pretty?
A sudden spook from Melody woke Adrianne from her jealous day dreaming. She gathered the reins and planted her seat bones into the english saddle. The mare quickly lowered her head and halted squared up again. The grey shook her head and snorted before she was asked to move foreward a bit. Adrianne smiled at the girl.
"Hello! I'm Adrianne." she said in a pleasant tone, trying to hide her jealousy. The grey mare stuck out her nose to sniff the girl and snorted when she realized she wasn't holding anything that would interest her. The mare pawed at the ground but was stopped with a slap on the shoulder.

Annie Summers * Fingers still combing through her locks, a nervous habit, Annie continued staring at the girl, suddenly feeling awkward and wondering if the stranger was so absorbed in riding, she wouldn't notice her. Shifting her weight between her two feet, Annie looked back. Should she just leave?
But then she heard the horse stop and whipped back around to face the girl who was now staring back at her. She smiled again, and instantly recognized a trace of an emotion she was quite used to in the girl's face, despite the otherwise friendly expression that stayed on it. The pair walked over, and Annie continued holding her sweet expression, though she was itching to turn and run away from the big beast walking toward her. The stranger looked like she knew what she was doing, though, so Annie managed to convince her feet to stay planted.
A greeting fell from the girl's lips. She said her name was Adrianne. Annie nodded, her blonde bangs falling into her eyes. Quickly, she brushed them back, then replied, "Nice to meet you, Adrianne." She noted the hint of familiar jealously, and couldn't help but feel pleased that this girl at least envied her a little bit, despite the fact that she was able to hang on to the giant mammal as it pranced around and Annie could not. She would always have her innocent act, cute smile, and pretty self; that comforted her a bit, and her confidence sprouted back up. "I'm Annie."
She was about to make another reply, add that she was new or something, but the nose of the beast got closer to her, and she flinched back. Somehow, though, she managed to not run away, only step back. The innocent expression on her face twisted into that of disgust mingled with fear, but as soon as she was found uninteresting by the equine, she managed to smooth away the emotions and compose herself.
With the nose gone, Annie looked back up at Adrianne and decided to skip out saying she was new. "Is this your horse, then?" she asked sweetly, motioning to the mare like she hadn't just given it a look that hinted she didn't like it. She'd found that talking about the horses in the stables was a rather safe topic, so she decided to stick with that. No need to mention that she knew nothing about riding or horses in general when she had the feeling this girl was jealous of her.

||Adrianne|~|Summers||
The dark gray mare spooked slightly when the girl stepped back but was held in place by the girl's firm hands. She tossed her head and pawed. Adrianne slapped the mare's shoulder then used her leg to sidepass the mare closer to the fence before turning back to the blonde female.
"Ha, yeah, this is Melody. I have another horse in the barn, Harmony." She said with a smile. Adrianne gathered her reins and backed the mare up a step to square her up. She turned back to the girl and smiled. "Do you have a horse of your own?" Adrianne figured she did. I mean, why else would you be at the barn?
Maybe if Annie had a horse, they could go on trail rides together or at least ride together. This girl seemed nice and Adrianne was already growing fond of her presence. She was hoping they could be friends. She would love to have a best friend who was as pretty as Annie was. Adrianne was used to being "the ugly friend". But Annie seemed like she was used to the look that she had accidentally made apparent. Jealousy.
A small bird landed on the fence post next to the mare's face. Melody threw her head and let out a squeal, before stepping away. When Adrianne sat deep to calm the horse, Melody kicked up her front legs and trotted forwards, trying to get out of Adrianne's control. The girl gathered her outside rein and opened the inside rein, moving the mare's shoulder out. Adrianne bent the mare around her inside leg and circled her using her belly button and her inside leg. The horse slowed to a walk and turned in the circle. Adrianne patted her and loosened the reins, stopping the mare by the girl again. "Sorry about that. Sometimes she likes to be a little difficult."

Annie Summers * Palms sweated as the horse seemed to have a small freak-out. Annie dug her palms into her skin, not wanting to shatter her pride by turning and running away from the scary thing. Her heart still drummed along nervously, though, as every part of her itched to just give up and leave. It wasn't like she even had a reputation here, among these horse-people.
But Adrianne seemed so willing to talk, Annie saw, as the girl introduced her horse. That motivated her a bit more, made her straighten up and stop staring at the horse like it might turn around and bite her any minute now. She heard the names: Melody and Harmony. It made her smile, just because if she had a horse, she would give it a pretty name like that. Maybe she should get a horse. Just to look at though; she was still scared to death by the thought of actually riding. "Cute," she answered, looking at the equine's face.
"Do you have a horse of your own?" The question popped Annie out of her short daydream, and she bit her lip for a moment, though still keeping a pleasant expression on her face. Would she be considered uncool if she said she didn't have a horse? Would the rider think she was a loser or something? Annie wasn't sure what exactly determined your popularity at a stable, if anything. But, just in case, she decided to lie lightly.
Releasing her bottom lip, she replied, "No, but I'm getting one soon." Did she even want a horse? She wasn't sure, but she didn't think it would matter all that much if she told a small fib to this girl. She was about to speak again, but the horse Adrianne rode started to toss and spook. Annie blinked and took two steps backwards, her hand gripping the fence post so she wouldn't run away.
Heart pounding, she watched it all happen, and wondered if that was a regular thing. Adrianne looked calm enough, and Annie couldn't help but wonder what she would look like in that situation. Not like her cute, pretty self, she was sure. If she was to start riding, would she have to deal with stuff like that? She bit her lips again until she realized she was probably wrecking her gloss and stopped herself.
The pair returned and Annie forced herself to let go of the fence and step closer again. The sun started to hurt her eyes, and she felt the urge to go inside, as if the horse scaring her wasn't enough. Hearing the apology, Annie replied with a simple, "S'okay." She started to feel uncomfortable again; even though she kept up her confident act, she wasn't sure what to do.
