( C H A R L O T T E ) don't close your eyes don't fade away Peace. It filled the air, warmed the hearts of all around and made everything seem that bit sweeter. The peace was not shattered by the soft sound of hooves hitting the dirt; in fact, it seemed to aid the peaceful atmosphere. It was early evening and the warm red glow from the sun was beginning to show beyond the horizon. All was quiet. A creamy grey mare increased her pace to trotting as her rider squeezed her flanks gently. The rider, a brunette female, reached out a hand to gently stroke her horse's neck as they turned a corner. "Come on, Dream. We gotta get back home soon," she muttered in her fluent English accent. Dream flicked one ear lazily and began to trot a little quicker.
It was about five minutes later when she finally admitted that she was lost. Charlotte halted her grey mare to look around her. Trees, trees and dirt path. With a sigh she dismounted carefully, holding Dreams' reins in her hands firmly. 'I shouldn't have gone out so late without a phone in a strange place. Damn it, I am such an idiot,' she told herself angrily. The teen clicked her tongue to make Dream walk and began to walk to a little clearing a few metres ahead. When she reached it, Charlotte sat down with a groan. She hated getting lost. Holding the grey's reins with one hand, she watched Dream graze happily. It was alright for some. Charlotte, after sitting for a few minutes, lowered her back to the ground so she could lie down. Soon she would have to find her way back home but for now she just wanted to stay for a while and make the most of her soltitude. It wasn't that she disliked being around people - she enjoyed that - but sometimes she just wanted to be alone. Sighing, she closed her eyes and drifted into a daydream. word count;; 322 muse;; high. music;; assorted. xD comments;; Not bad. David !? Long stretches of trail lay before David, and he stared at them, the horse beneath him completely fine with the lack of activity. Ozzie was a very lazy horse that barely ever wanted to trot, Melena had said when David asked if he could ride the gelding. That was fine for him; he wasn't in the mood for a challenge, anyways. He wasn't even sure why he was riding right now, borrowing one of the ranch horses like he was. It was time for him to get a horse. He should be spending time looking for one instead of walking around on old quarter horses.
Eh, enough ranting! He snapped at himself, then smiled, leaned over to pet Ozzie. Then, with a cluck of the tongue, he walked forward down the longest-looking trail. Why had he wondered why he was riding? Stupid self. He was riding because he loved it, because he enjoyed being with horses. Duh. Maybe he should have gotten more sleep last night.
A few minutes passed, and walking got boring -- well, for David it did, at least. Ozzie still seemed surprisingly content. David came to the conclusion that it was because the gelding was so old. It was that wisdom thing, maybe. Squeezing the horse's sides, he attempted to pick up the pace. Nothing. Sighing, David tried again, kicking the horse's sides a few time for affect. Again, nothing. "C'mon, Ozzie!" David urged, then gave a final, hard kick. Ozzie jolted forward quickly, speeding into a long trot, and it took David a second to readjust and boost himself up to post.
The wind blew back at his face, and David relaxed, posting more easily now, just enjoying it. But then Ozzie decided to quit, and they were back at a boring walk. "Ooft, Horse." Ozzie ignored him.
Oh, well. David looked around, wondering if there'd be a good place to stop and just let Ozzie graze. Eventually his eyes landed on a spot that looked like it could lead to a clearing, and he headed towards it, though time seemed to crawl by while Ozzie continued his slow, lazy walk. But eventually, they slipped through two trees and ended up in a field. Ozzie whinnied happily, then stopped after not yet reaching the center of the field, and pushed his head down to graze. David at first tried to stop him, then sighed, deciding there was no harm in letting the horse snack, and let the reins slide out of his hands. He then slid out of the western saddle and onto the grass, taking a look around.
Eyes landing on someone else and her horse, he smiled again. The girl seemed calm, peaceful. And she wasn't that far away. Grabbing the reins without looking away, David walked over to the stranger, Ozzie by his side. "Hello! Nice day, isn't it?"

( C H A R L O T T E ) don't close your eyes don't fade away If she had been left to rest she might have fallen asleep but fate denied her that. A friendly voice destroyed the calm silence that surrounded her. Charlotte rose up, resting her weight on her elbows. No doubt she'd have grass stained clothes when she got home. The female turned her head up towards the person who had talked, a friendly smile on her lips. It was a boy, in his late teens, who was gripping the reins of a horse. "Hey. It would be a great day if it wasn't for the fact that I'm lost," she laughed. The sixteen year old clucked her tongue to call Dream over - she'd begun to stray further away. Reluctantly the horse walked over, picking up her pace when she spotted the other horse. Standing up and brushing herself off Charlotte extended a hand to stroke the horse's muzzle. "I'm sure I've seen him before... Do you ride at Riverglass Ranch?" she commented, ending with a question thrown at the boy. Dream had started to check the other horse out. She was sniffing at him very curiously. Charlotte grabbed her reins and began to rein her in. The mare snorted, stretching her muzzle out to her newly found interest. Rolling her eyes, Charlotte quickly pulled her away. "Sorry about that - Dream is a very inquisitive girl," she apologised, absent-mindedly stroking the mare's soft nose. "By the way, I'm Charlotte but basically everyone calls me Sharli," she added on quickly. Charlotte grinned at the guy, silently wondering if he knew the way back to the ranch. But now she was in no hurry to rush back. The female petted Dream unconsciously, drifting into a daydream. word count;; 282 muse;; not bad. music;; assorted. xD comments;; Meh. Medicore. Sorry! David !? David smiled again, then laughed lightly. "Oh, well, I guess that would suck the fun out of a nice day," he nodded, eyebrows raised playfully, and ran a hand through his hair. He'd noticed her accent right away, and it made him curious. Where was she from? He guessed it'd be rude to ask, though, so he held his curiosity back.
"I can help you get back, if you'd like," he started, then let his voice trail off as he watched as the girl calmly called the horse back. He doubted Ozzie would do that for him. But then again, Ozzie wasn't David's horse. This girl and her mare probably had a strong bond. The thought made him remember again that he was suppose to be looking for a horse still, but he silenced the urge by listened to the stranger speak again.
Ozzie saw the mare reach forward, pricked his ears up, watched the horse, then ducked back down again to graze as she was pulled away. David looked at him and raised an eyebrow at the lack of interest. Again, he figured it was due to his age. "Yep, I do. 'Been riding there for a while now. You?" he answered, watching the girl again.
Hearing her introduction, David suddenly remembered that he hadn't even said his name yet. Woops. "Nice to meet, you Sharli. I'm David." He would have said his last name, too, since David was sort of a common name, but the phrase "Bond, James Bond" came to mind and he decided against it. The only people he'd ever heard introduce themselves like that were pretty much losers, and that wasn't really how he wanted to come off, especially after just meeting this girl. He usually went for nice-yet-cool-guy.
