GLORIA IVY THOMAS
GLORIA - FOURTEEN - FEMALE - INTERMEDIATE
\\ appearance \\
HAIR gloria was born with light, light blonde hair, but over time, it darkened to a medium shade of blonde that changes according to how much times she spends in the sun. naturally, it's wavy, though it gets a bit on the curly side if she's slept on it wet. sometimes she'll take the extra time to straighten it or create a fancy up-do, but usually, it just flows down to her chest. her bangs are long and side-swept, the reason she parts her hair so deep, and she always straightens them.
FACE the girl is pretty, with naturally high cheek bones, full, pink lips, and eyes that are blue with hints of grey in them. her eyebrows aren't that high, and they're a bit on the thick side, but they suit her nicely. her face it quite animate, too, lips sometimes pulling into a pout when she's sad, eyebrows raised when she's surprised or suspicious, etc.
BODY standing at five feet and three inches high, gloria isn't particularly tall or short, though that never seems to have stopped her older brother from calling her "shrimp." her build is average; she never seems to get chubby thanks to riding and such, but she's never gotten that muscular, either, accept in her lower legs. she isn't very curvy, but her body isn't straight up and down, either. her skin is pale, sometimes tanning, and often burning. she has a few scars here and there, too, but nothing too noticeable.
STYLE gloria doesn't really stick to a certain style. when it comes to makeup, she stays simple. she wears foundation and sometimes blush, as well as black-brown mascara and the occasional two circles of eyeliner. with clothes, she's somewhere in between scene and prep, if that's possible. her closet is filled with jeans and t-shirts, so that's what she usually has on. sometimes she'll throw on some jewelry, but not if she's going to do something like ride. if she has time, she also might add something a bit crazier, like a side ponytail or a bright-colored belt, but exactly how she dresses all depends on the day.
\\ personality \\
REBEL gloria would rather eat a shoe than become a popular kid, thus earning the title of "rebel." but there's more to her than her lack of desire to climb her way up the social latter. she also typically rebels against most authority, such as parents, teachers, etc. she's got a mouth on her, and she enjoys using it on said figures. but this can come in handy, too, because that means she's also not the type to just sit around when something's happening that she doesn't like.
STUBBORN or "determined," as she likes to put it. sometimes, gloria just doesn't know when to drop something, like an argument, for instance. she typically keeps going for something until she realizes she's pretty much screwed herself by trying too hard to get that something. unless she gets what she wants, then it's all good. she does use her smarts when fighting for something, though; she considers herself some what of an expert at arguing, and when she tries do to something, she can indeed get creative.
IRRITABLE a strong negative point in gloria's personality is that she's irritable. certain things just bug the crap out of her, like people that don't know when to stop blabbering, people that think they're all that, people that just don't get the point, and so much more. and she's usually not all that good at hiding when she's irritated. in fact, she'll usually insult anyone who bothers her in an attempt to get them to go away. it's not that she isn't good at hiding her emotions; she just doesn't see the point in hiding when she's mad when she knows ignoring it won't solve the problem.
FUNNY she's funny -- but in her own little way. only a special few understand her sense of humor, which is usually extremely sarcastic, sometimes almost to the point where it's confusing. and then there's her tendency to pick on people, just for fun. not often when they're around, though! she's been bullied too many times in her life to stoop to that level.
HYPER some things just make gloria happy, like friends, exciting news, or just the energy of the room. and when she's happy, she can act quite odd, almost intoxicated. she'll bounce off the walls and chat about nonsense and sing at the top of her lungs and dance and try to make friends with people she usually doesn't care about. and it takes a while for her to calm down, too. but there's no avoiding it, so don't even worry.
ADVENTUROUS not much scares gloria, except maybe spiders and death itself. she's usually up for anything as long as it sounds/looks fun. and the more hyper she is, the more likely she'll do it, so before you ask, make sure she's happy.
MOODY as you may be able to tell, gloria is a bit of the moody type. exactly how she acts depends entirely on how she's feeling, what's going on in the outside world. most of the time, she's pretty pleasant, but if the stress level's high and it's all above her bit of patience, she can start acting stupid, and not in a good way, just because she doesn't really know how to deal with it. and it usually takes her awhile to get out of a mood once she's in it. music typically helps the best with that.
SOCIAL gloria actually does enjoy talking and hanging out with friends, despite her sometimes anti-social attitude. but this is a special topic, because there's a lot of people gloria just doesn't click with -- they either can't handle the negative sides of her, or she can't stand them, etc. but she does like socializing, and if she thinks she needs a new friend or two, she will put herself out there to chat it up with someone. and she's always got something up her sleeve to talk about. though, she can be a bit shy, sometimes. and this is only for an hour or so around new people -- if she seems quiet when you first meet her, she's basically just warming up.
LIKES horses, rodents, dogs, bright colors, rainy days, cold weather, writing, reading, rock/alternative/punk music, having fun, being with people she loves, love, her cell phone, cheese, candy, stupid-funny movies, social studies/history class, study hall, unusually awesome clothes, making up words, yelling, doing random stuff...
DISLIKES ponies, cats, biol, smelly stuff, spicy food, sour stuff, bugs, specifically spiders, dull colors, "baby-poop green", rough-housing, football, sunny days, hot days, being bored, pop music, country music, jazz music, being annoyed, headaches, scary movies, cliche clothes, stereotypes, cliques, not understanding stuff, blonde moments, boring people, authoritative figures, geometry, story problems...
\\ history \\
BEFORE BIRTH michelle and george were a typical pair of love-drunk teenagers, both having just finished highschool, both with no specific life plans. they partied, they had fun, they were always with each other, and they got a little too stupid in the end; michelle ended up pregnant. thank gawd, this did help one of them calm down, though. the partying didn't happen as often after michelle found out she was carrying a baby -- at least, michelle wasn't partying as much. sadly, her baby daddy still was. but there wasn't much else she could do about that. when her due date was only a month away, she tried to talk to george about him being a father and helping out, since he hadn't done anything so far. that was when george officially left.
BIRTH michelle gave birth to gloria on a cold winter day, when the streets were frozen and the sky let down a solid foot of snow. michelle has always said that this is why gloria likes cold weather so much. gloria was a healthy baby, not premature or with any issues. most of michelle's family was there, but none of george's was. michelle and gloria returned to gloria's grandparents home in the suburbs of chicago, since michelle had been living with george before he left her.
EARLY CHILDHOOD gloria has a fairly happy childhood. she knew she was a bit on the poor side, even when her mother managed to move them out so they could have their own house. michelle was often at work, just trying to keep their small little home and have food on the table. gloria was usually with a babysitter, that is, assuming she wasn't outside playing with the few little kid friends she had. when she started school, the teachers realized she was quite a bright child, but that didn't stop her from learning more. gloria absolutely loved school up until third grade, when she had to transfer due to moving again. but that was okay, because her mom started staying home more often after that.
JUNIOR HIGH junior high, the time of cliques and drama. gloria tried not to get too caught up in all of that; she stayed with her own little group of friends and only bothered people that bothered her. a lot of people made fun of her just because she didn't do what everyone else did, and it did hurt her quite a bit, but she never let the bullies know that. most of her time was spent drawing and looking for ways to have fun in her hell-hole school. her mom started earning more money, which she enjoyed quite a bit, until she realized that her mom was also dating someone now. it made her stomach turn, but she tried to ignore the giggly phone calls and date nights. it would all turn out okay, she told herself.
RIDING gloria wanted a laptop. yes, she wanted a laptop, and her mother said she wasn't wasting money on such a thing when they had their ancient, uber slow computer to use. so, gloria went out to find ways to earn money; she would buy the laptop herself. soon enough, she found she could help out at a local stables for a little cash. she started mucking stalls, sweeping the halls, and scrubbing buckets. the money didn't come in too fast, and she never did get a laptop, but she kept working there, anyways, watching the lessons and becoming more and more interested in horses. her mom noticed her new-found love and dug deep in her pockets. to gloria's great joy, she started riding.
RECENT dating turned into marriage for michelle. gloria's mom got married to a man three years older than her, robert. gloria doesn't like him, probably never will, but she doesn't say too much because he's made her significantly richer. they moved down to southern illinois, which saddened gloria, because she had to leave her friends. but then robert bought her a horse, hoping it would make gloria like him more or make them bond or something. gloria excepted the gift easily and happily, actually thrilled beyond belief, but she doesn't really like robert anymore because she knew he just did it so they'd get along better. she's happier now, though, fitting into highschool just like she fit into junior high, and spending most of her time at the stables. she actually does talk to her real father occasionally, and goes to see him sometimes. she learned that she had an older half-brother over there (and doesn't even know if her mom knows that; she doesn't talk about what she does over there with her mom). so she visits on holidays and such, but she prefers to stay in guineaville with her horse.~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
