Show Name: Quicksilver
Barn Name: Silver
Owner: Mikeala Burroughs
Age: 8
Gender: Gelding
Breed: Thoroughbred
Training: Begun as a racehorse, turned to Intermediate jumper and trail prospect.
Color: Dapple gray
Height: 16.2hh
Build: Long, muscled legs, strong shoulder and quarters, thin neck, moderately large head.
Personality: Silver is rather affectionate with people. He enjoys being in the middle of things and never turns down a friendly pat or scratch. With horses, it's an entirely different matter. He doesn't mind the company of other equines, so long as they keep a respectable distance. If they're close enough to be bitten or kicked, they will be. No one is really sure why he does this, but they find it easy enough to keep himself happy by keeping him out of range of other horses.
Silver was bred to be a racing machine, so he can get headstrong, especially in flatwork. He tends to race between jumps, seemingly just for the thrill of going faster, but an experienced rider can keep him in check. He is willing to work as long as things are asked of him and not demanded. He has a strong dislike of spurs also, and they tend to send him on crowhopping or bucking sprees depending on the force applied with said spurs. So, most rof his past riders carried a short bat if they felt he needed any encouragement.
Other Info: While willing to run and with good speed, Silver's dislike of other horses being too close made him a danger on the track so his race training was discontinued and he was sold as a yearling. A barn that rehabilitated retired racers took him and found he had a natural knack for and love of jumping, so they decided to pursue it as his forte. He was leased from the barn to a few riders over the years until Kay's grandmother bought him as a "house-warming" gift when Kay finally settled down in Guineaville. She and Silver are still getting to know one another.
