A faded blue pickup truck parked a little ways away from the stables. An old one horse trailer was connected to the back of the truck. The driver got out and pushed her platinum blonde streaked hair out of her cloudy blue eyes. She took in the size of the property; her new home. It was certainly bigger than what Luna was used to. She hoped Stella would be alright in her new enviremont. The day was clear, the sky cloud-free. It wasn't as hot here as back home. The cool breeze that rustled the leaves on the trees felt good on her face. I could get used to this.
An impatient whinny sounded from the trailer. Luna sighed. What an impatient creature Stella was! Hold on a sec, Stella! I'm making sure this place is good enough for you! Luna said. She walked to the back of the trailer and opened it up. Inside was a beautiful Palomino mare. Only four years old and already up to Luna's shoulder. Stella snorted and tugged at the lead rope that attached her to the window. I'm excited, too. Luna said in a calming voice. The mare's ears flicked toward her. Not wanting to keep her horse waiting, Luna untied the rope and carefully lead Stella out of the trailer.
Tall as she was, Luna closed the trailer door easily, without having to stand on her tiptoes like her mom did. Not that she wasn't comfortable on her tiptoes, which she was. Stella whinnied loudly to the other horses that she could smell with her flared nostrils. Now Stella, Luna began as she walked her horse towards the stable. I want you to be good to the others. No sense in making any enemies here. I hope to stay here for a while, so you better get used to everyone. Stella nodded her big head and nibbled on Luna's hair. She pushed her head away. My hair is not hay, you should know that by now! the girl scolded. Words: 336

BRIAN ROMANO
A small smile crossed his face as he walked into the barn. It was a gorgeous day and perfect riding weather. Today he and his tall black oldenburg gelding were going to relax, like they did once a week. A nice long slow trail ride. If things got too boring, they could jump a little but that was not the goal. Then afterwards a nice long bath and some grazing would calm themdown.
As he was walking down the aisle to Dacaprio's stall, he spotted a newcomer. His tall frame towered over six foot, making him quite fearsome at times. Although he would never really hurt anybody, he could if he wanted to. Today he donned a loose white tank shirt and oversized jeans. He wasn't the guy to wear make up, so as usual there was none on his face. His long brown hair fell into his face somewhat.
In an attempt to appear friendly, he waved his tan hand at the girl who was standing in front of the previously empty stall. In a steady and accent-free voice he called out, "Hey there, I'm Brian Romano, the cross country and jumping trainer here. Who are you?" The spoken words were in a deep tone, adding to his somewhat menacing persona. A slight smile played upon his face but it was nothing big. In fact, he quickly corrected it because sometimes the failed attempt at a smile added to the fearsome appearance of the man.
He was young, only 19, but sometimes he acted like a 40 year old. The jokes and lingo that were in vogue such as 'thats what she said 'epic fail' did not amuse him in any manner. In fact, if somebody did bring up something like that, he would make a mental note to avoid the immature person. Brian was demanding, demeaning, but dependable and if you ever need him, he is there.

Luna looked up at the sound of someone's voice. A tall guy waving at her. He was one of the trainers, and said his name was Brian Romano. Luna smiled politely and waved back. "I'm Luna, and this is my horse, Stella."she replied. The Palomino's ears pricked at the mention of her name. The mare stared curiously at the other figure. Luna patted her horse's muzzle and let her go in her stall. The horse sniffed around and nickered her approval. The stall was a good size, which was an excellent thing for Stella. Luna pushed her mare away as she tried to eat the sleeve of her short sleeved t-shirt. Apparently, she was hungry. Luna rubbed her muzzle affectionately, the softness was always a comfort.
Luna was really hoping that Stella would like this place. If she didn't then she wouldn't eat or she'd get sick or something. Luna would die if she was responsible for putting her horse through that. She reminded her so much of her dam. who had been her mother's favorite horse. She looked back at Brian. She'd never tried cross country before. She'd heard it was tons of fun, but never actually experienced it. Stella nibbled on Luna's arm, making her yelp with surprise. "Stella! I know you're hungry but please wait a second before you eat me!" she cried out. Stella's ears went back and she disappeared back into her stall. obviously angry for being made to wait. "Spoiled brat," she muttered. Her mare did not like to be kept waiting.Luna rubbed the horse slobbed off on her faded gray t-shirt.

BRIAN ROMANO
If Brian were affected by 'cute' like most females, he would have gone 'awwwww' at the sight of the palomino mare. The alert ears begging for food combined with the bright, dark eyes made her adorable. However, he was not afflicted with this disease-like urge to swoon at the site of adorable animals or babies. He found their large eyes, fluffy coats, and shiny manes irrelevant to the value of the horse. But in a grand effort to appear somewhat more friendly than his usual approach, he smiled and said, "Oh, you have such a cute horse. What discipline do you two take part in?" The wording was meticulously thought out and the presentation, although warmed with a smile, probably wouldn't impress. As usual, his voice was monotone and very deep. Those who knew him well understood, but if you didn't know him it was very perturbing.
The tall figure walked up to his horse's stall, bribing him out with a carrot from his tack box next to the stall. Dacaprio's dark colored head flashed out from the stall like a switch had been flicked. His bright star contrasted sharply with the horse's black coat. The horse's amber eyes shone bright, one of the things that Brian thought showed his personality and heart. But beyond looks, the horse was a truly amazing friend. He would fight hard for the prize that his master desired, but also for his love of the ride. Even in the pasture he would canter around while the others grazed lazily.
A faint nicker came from the black oldenburg gelding. It had very little to do with the site of his master so much as the association of the rider and his carrots. But there was nothing wrong with the assumption that seeing Brian meant getting a carrot because it always happened. He was a man of habit. The carrot before each ride was some sort of ritual that could not be broken.
The large gloved hand instinctively reached up to pat the steed on the cheek. Soon enough, they would be jumping obstacles on the course after a nice long warm up. Happy horse, busy rider, and lots of good exercise. What could be better?

Luna smiled slightly."Thanks. We do anything we feel like. Stella here does good under English and Western in a good mood."she said. Stella nickered at the sound of her name, and another horse. Her master smiled and then yelped, more out of surprise than pain. Something just bit her!
"QUACK!" A small yellow duck had just nipped Luna's ankle. "Qu qu QUACK!" It said, irritated. The duck ruffled her wings and looked up at Luna in annoyance. Clearly she was hungry, and wanted to eat. "Geez Ahiru, a little time to get stuff done before you can feed your greedy little self, alright?" Luna said, exasperated. Ahiru quacked again. The duck wasn't one to wait. She ignored her new surroundings and focused on the giant figure in front of her, other wise known as the food bringer. Constant quacking often led to food, as far as Ahiru had learned. The fluffy duck could here her master's other companion, the big four legged creature without wings. Ahiru wasn't very social, and preferred her master and the horse as her companions. Giving up, the girl picked up her soft yellow duck and put her on Stella's back. The horse whinnied gleefully at seeing her old pal, and Ahiru quacked softly in response. Luna eyed the duck warily. There was no telling what a hungry Ahiru could do to a pet carrier. The girl was almost afraid to find out. Last time she had taken her pet on a long ride she had completely destroyed the seats, leaving a stuffing mess everywhere.

BRIAN ROMANO
The group in front of Brian was somewhat odd and eclectic. A versatile palomino horse, one who was gentle and could apparently be ridden any style with no obvious preference. Stroking the horse was a tall girl with light brown hilighted hair and blue eyes. She was somewhat pretty but he couldn't decide if he should act upon that. He had scared off too many wonderful people by trying to get close to them. Then a duck sat upon the horse, truly making the picture something that was out of a fairytale. They were odd, but close and all happy. He didn't understand but at the same time wished he could figure it out.
The three all knew each other very well, as if they had been close for years. The bond was charming. Brian had never had anything like that. His father and mother worked hard until they retired, which was when they were forced to retire by their advancing ages. They taught him well that sometimes work is more important than friendship. He was raised by a nanny. He had almost grown close to her, but they made sure the two were constantly working. It was a silent bond that developed through the harshness of Brian's childhood.
One thing that most would be surprised by is the fact that he had never had a girlfriend before. He was attractive, brilliant, and didn't feel the need to cheat. The thing that scared them away was his lack of emotion and fearsome appearance. He was no bad boy, he had no desire to find somebody who wanted him because he didn't know what he was missing. It was a tradgedy that he could never see from his very narrow perspective.
His dark brown hair was cut spiky and short, somewhat similar to jacob's in the second twilight book. Brian spent so much time outside that he was over-tanned, though not particularly burned. Some would consider it attractive even though he didn't really care about his looks that much.
Brian laughed lightly at the little duck, reaching out his hand to its beak trying to see if it would sniff him or quack or whatever ducks did. He said to Luna, "How old is your duck?" Another attempt at a smile cracked across his face, the corners of his dark eyes crinkling. --------------------------------

Luna watched the duck carefully, making sure she didn't try to eat Brian's hand. Ahiru cocked her head at the strange new person and poked his hand with her bill. It had the same horsey smell to it. The duck quacked loudly, hoping it would bring food for her. Stella snorted, irritated with the loud sound of the duck's quacking. She shifted her feet as warning. Her movement made the duck lose her balance and have to flap her wings in order to stay on the mare's back. Luna couldn't help it, she laughed. Ahiru shot her a duck glare and started pulling on strands of Stella's mane. The girl could've sworn that the mare rolled her eyes.
Luna dug around in the pockets of her jeans and found a piece of bread from lunch. Here you greedy little thing, she said as she tossed the bread at Ahiru. The duck caught the piece and quacked delightedly. Luna turned her attention to the question Brian had asked. She's a few months old, and thinks she's the queen of the world, she replied. Stella nodded her head as if in agreement, and Luna rubbed her head. She knew that Stella thought she was earning some extra grain for duck sitting, which was sometimes the situation. But Luna knew that the mare really liked the duck, even if she didn't act like it. The mare whinnied, clearly irritated that the duck was getting food and she wasn't. The girl should really get her fed soon before she figures out how to unlatch the stable door. She also needed to go see her friend Aren to see how she was getting along with the change in scenery, plus Ahiru could use the company of her duck friends. Luna watched as the mare scratched her head on her arm. She was always determined that her master was also her scratching post.

BRIAN ROMANO
Brian eyed the horse and duck curiously. It was beyond him as to why the horse had no fear of the flapping, noisy animal. His horse was a safe distance away. However, the bold oldenburg gelding's ears were pinned towards the source of the noise. He didn't spook quite yet, though every muscle in his body was tense and alert, ready to freak out if needed. Typical horse... UNFINISHED
